Be a part of our social justice grantmaking for 2014

Thank you so much for your continued support of the Diverse City Fund and our mission. As you know, The Diverse City Fund works to nurture community leaders and grassroots projects which are acting to transform DC into a more just, vibrant place to live. peoplelgeThrough our grantmaking, we identify, support, and connect people in communities of color who are engaged in change work.  Please consider making a year end donation todayWe support the development of community-level social change by funding projects that have less access to traditional funding sources.Because of supporters like you, we have invested $235,000 in 84 local grass roots organizations and projects led by people of color.  As an all-volunteer organization, we have helped foster a network of grantees whose work is vital and changing the District of Columbia. Here’s a snapshot of our work: we have given over 99 grants to small collectives doing work from food justice to education in all parts of the city (some groups are recipients of multiple grants). pielgAdditionally, we hosted a Digital Storytelling workshop by and for grantees, participated in the EDGE Just Giving Conference to influence philanthropy practice, screened Traces of the Trade to address racial equity and spark community dialogue, led two community walking tours on Georgia Avenue and in Shaw to discuss histories of resistance and current movements, produced Laugh for A Cause, a social justice comedy event and launched a peer-to-peer fundraising circle

In the coming year we anticipate awarding a total of $100,000. It is individual donors—just like you—who fuel this work. Your donations support grassroots advocacy at its most powerful.

We hope that you will consider making a donation to ensure our continued justice-seeking, movement building work. Thank you for your partnership and together, we are supporting a new generation of community leaders!
