Are you working to make the District a more just and vibrant place to live, work & raise a family? Looking for a funder who shares your commitment to our city and will support your work without asking you to jump through dozens of hoops? Then the Diverse City Fund’s next round of grants might be the perfect opportunity for you!
The Diverse City Fund is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for our third round of grants for change-makers of color working for social justice in the District. Since the Fund’s formation in 2011 by a committed group of volunteer community activists, we’ve dispersed $90,000 to 45 organizations and initiatives across our city, and we are thrilled to have the resources to open our third round of grant applications.
The Diverse City Fund gives grants of up to $5,000 to volunteer-powered initiatives working to create more justice in DC neighborhoods and communities of color, led by change-makers with little access to funding. We’re here to support projects that traditional funds can’t or don’t, and we are making a difference for our city by supporting change-makers like you. Grantees from our first two rounds work on everything from access to good food, to strengthening LBGT immigrant communities, to protecting affordable housing (check out the full list of grantees from Fall 2011 and from Spring/Summer 2012. We just finished celebrating our most recent round of grantees, but we’re already looking for more amazing projects to support!
The application is simple: tell us about you, your work, and why you love it, your goals and what you would do with a grant of up to $5,000. You don’t need a lot of time or a big budget, or 501(c)3 status – just passion for making change and the ability to make a small grant go a long way. Applications (get one here) are due by September 24, so get to work on yours today.
Still not sure you should apply? Check out the application FAQ, join us for an info session on September 18 6:30pm at 733 Euclid St NW, or contact one of the DC Fund volunteers at 202.709.7038 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to hearing about your work to change our city for the better!
